Eco-friendly accommodation

Oak tree, Causse plateau, Lot

At Laborie, we do our upmost to promote an eco-friendly environment. Should you choose to come by train and not use a car, we can organise transport to and from the train station of Souillac and lend you bikes.

We have put a few measures into place to make sure you have a great holiday with a low-impact on the environment.

Making a little bit of a difference

No pesticides in the vegetable garden or on the grass (weeding is all by hand;))

Recycling is easy with recycling bins near the car park. We take care of the glass bottle recycling for you.

Should you wish to, you can compost your organic waste in the heap behind the herb garden.

The pool is salt water: better for your skin and better for the environment.

Our light bulbs are low-energy.

The bread-oven accommodation is heated with a wood burner.

2 bikes are available for you to use in order to get your morning baguette or explore the area.
Canoeing rental and swimming in the river are all easily accessible on foot (less than 15mn)

You can also hire electric bikes from the village in the summer months.

There is a plethora of hiking tracks starting in and around our village of Meyronne, from easy walks to much harder hikes.

Village of Montvalent, Dordogne Valley, Lot
Canoes for fishing on the Dordogne River

Please note that our village can easily accommodate for people choosing a car-free vacation. There are several food shops and restaurants within 2 km, including a butcher and boulangerie. Most activities and many places to visit are also close-by and reachable by bicycle.

Saying this, the Dordogne Valley is a vast and beautiful area. Some places would be a bit too far to walk or cycle to. You might want to consider hiring a car for a couple of days as well.
